What is GeoNote?

GeoNote allows the creation of persistent location-aware “geonotes”, visible to anyone nearby. This makes it part augmented-reality, as it allows you to overlay metadata over the real world, and part social information exchange, as geonotes are visible to everyone.

GeoNote allows the creation of persistent location-aware “notes”, which are visible to anyone close by. This makes it part augmented-reality, as it allows you to overlay metadata over the real world, and part social information exchange, as any one can see your notes.
It also integrates into twitter and facebook, taking advantage of your existing social networks.

What can I use it for?

Anything you want! Examples:

  • leave a message for your friends
  • review a restaurant
  • point out a good coffee shop
  • tell people about your favourite places

What else can GeoNote do?

GeoNote can integrate with your existing twitter or facebook account, so it meshes nicely into your existing social networks. Your friends can see where you have been or what you thought about a pub, club, diner, etc.

Why did you write it?

I wrote GeoNote to provide a persistent data layer over the physical world. It is my attempt at augmented reality, where you can access metadata about physical world around you.

I am Shu Ning Bian.

The rest of the time I am busy studying for my EE/Physics degree.
